submitted by: Tim Hudson, edited by Barbara J. FrostThe Albrittons':
The Albrittons were early settlers of Pitt County, North Carolina; James Albritton, Sr. arrived in the area later (Pitt County formed in the 1730's).
Family tradition has Enoch as the son of James Albritton, Jr. and Mary Arnett. Enoch was born in Pitt County, North Carolina in 1771. This is supported through the process of elimination (James Jr.'s nephews are all known-but no proof has yet been found that gives the children of James Albritton, Jr.) Enochs is living in Pitt County in the 1800's.The Frizzle's:
John Frizzle was born about 1717, probably in Virginia. He fought in the French and Indian War of 1746 (King George's War), serving with the Virginia militia in Canada. He arrived in Pitt County between 1762 and 1764 and married Mary Rountree about 1770.
Penelope Frizzle, the daughter of John Frizzle and Mary Rountree, was born 27 Jan 1772, near the present-day community of Rountree Crossroads, near Little Contentney Creek in southwestern Pitt County, North Carolina.Enoch and Penelope:
They married in Pitt County, North Carolina around 1792/1793. They bought a farm there and by 1806 had a large family of children.
In 1806 they sold their farm and moved to Georgia. They settled in Wilkinson County, Georgia. Little is known about their life in Georgia, as the counties they lived in, Wilkinson and Twiggs, both have suffered courthouse fires.
Sometime after 1820, Enoch moved his family west to Wilcox County, Alabama, probably in 1821/ 1822. They settled near the village of Snow Hill. Enoch purchased a farm in Snow Hill and lived near his grown sons Allen, John, and Silas, as well as daughter Lavincy Albritton Lee and her husband Martin B. Lee, and perhaps other married daughters. Enoch was a constable for Wilcox County in 1833. They were probably members of Bethsaida Primitive Baptist Church in Snow Hill. Enoch Albritton died there in 1834 and was buried in the old Snow Hill Cemetery.
By this time, all of Enoch and Penelope's children had married except for their youngest son, George Washington Albritton. He continued to live with his mother Penelope until he married in about 1842. Between 1845 and 1849, a severe drought plagued most of Georgia and Alabama, and thousands of people left their homes and moved west. Probably for this reason, many Snow Hill residents left Alabama in 1847 and moved to Union Parish, Louisiana.George Washington Albritton and his sister Lavincy Albritton Lee and her husband Martin B. Lee all moved to Louisiana in 1847. George W. Albritton was a widower, and he left his two young sons in Alabama. He returned to Snow Hill in late 1849, remarried, and returned to Union Parish with his new wife and sons.
By the mid 1850's, Penelope Frizzle Albritton was living with her children in Union Parish, Louisiana. It is not known if she accompanied them to Louisiana in 1847, or if she came later. It is also not know how long she remained in Union Parish.
By 1860, she was again living in Snow Hill, Alabama with her granddaughter. [Penelope came back to Union Parish because she is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Union Parish, Louisiana.]Sources: Tim Hutson wrote this brief biography based upon his personal research into the Albritton family, utilizing these sources:

It appears that after Penelope's husband, Enoch, passed away in Alabama, she moved to Union Parish, Louisiana to be near her children...
Source: Annie Crenshaw notes in the Bible record in Eleanor McSwain's book: "Penelope Albritton, daughter of John Frizzle and Mary and his wife, was born January the 27th 1772."

Albritton in Wilcox County, Alabama. Penelope does appear to be buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Louisiana, though.
